No es ningún secreto a quién servimos y cómo lo hemos hecho durante más de 50 años. Sí, has leído bien, desde hace más de 50 años. Nunca hemos sido un club rico, nunca hemos jugado el juego de subir constantemente los precios para que sólo algunas familias afortunadas puedan disfrutar del juego. No somos considerados uno de los clubes de “élite”. No estamos en el negocio de ganar dinero. Pero eso no significa que nuestros campos deban ser presa fácil para clubes más grandes que sienten que cada vez que quieren “crecer” usando su influencia o “conexiones” para apoderarse de nuestros campos de manera lenta pero segura.
Dejen que sigamos haciendo el trabajo que poco a poco ha ayudado a crear un gran lugar para vivir y criar a nuestros hijos, sin importar su raza, género, religión o ingresos. Exigimos, como lo haría cualquier otro club, que las autoridades nos respeten y nos permitan continuar con nuestro trabajo sin intentar violar constantemente nuestro honor e integridad. Nuestro personal, entrenadores, familias y jugadores están cansados de las amenazas y la persecución. Ya basta.
It is no secret who we serve and how we’ve done it for over 50 years. Yes, you read right, for over 50 years. We’ve never been a wealthy club, we’ve never played the game of constantly raising the prices so only some fortunate families can enjoy the game. We’re not considered one of the “elite” clubs. We are not in the business of making money. But that does not mean our fields should be easy prey for bigger clubs that feel that every time they want to “grow” they can use their influence or “connections” to slowly but surely take over our fields.
Once again, our community will not allow anyone to take over what we’ve built just to benefit a few individuals or the big interests. Why? Because our families know the Shimberg FC and Town & Country competitive and recreational programs main objective has and will always be to make the game accessible to EVERYONE. We know and understand the daily sacrifices made by families to provide their children an opportunity to play soccer, and we will fight with all our forces to prevent outside interests to take that away from them. We are in favor of growth, but not by disrespecting or invading other clubs turf. This is not the right way to manage youth sports in Tampa, and we hope other clubs are watching, because if it happens to us, it can happen to anyone.
Our public request is for this to stop once and for all. Stop threatening our club. Respect our trajectory, our legacy, our community. Respect the people that, for years, have and still sacrifice so much to create and maintain a family oriented community.
Let us keep doing the work that little by little has helped create a great place to live and raise our children, no matter their race, gender, religion or income. We demand, just like any other club would, for the authorities to respect us and allow us to continue our work without constantly trying to violate our honor and integrity. Our staff, coaches, families and players are tired of the threats and persecution. Enough.
